Nobel Prize 2021

New Delhi: The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has announced the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics to be awarded to Sukoro Manabe, Klaus Hesselmann, and Georgiou Parisi. It has been decided to give him the Nobel Prize for his remarkable contribution to the understanding of complex physical systems.

Nobel Prize 2021:

Announcing the names, the jury said that Sukoro Manabe demonstrated how increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere lead to an increase in the temperature at the Earth's surface. Their work laid the foundation for the development of current climate models.

Nobel Prize in Physics:

Last year, the Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to American scientist Andrea Ghez, Britain's Roger Penrose and Germany's Renard Genzel. All three were awarded this award for their research on black holes. The recipients of this award are awarded a gold medal with a cash reward of $1.14 million.

"The discoveries being recognised this year demonstrate that our knowledge about the climate rests on a solid scientific foundation, based on a rigorous analysis of observations. This year's Laureates have all contributed to us gaining deeper insight into the properties and evolution of complex physical systems, " said Thors Hans Hansson, chair of the Nobel Committee for Physics.

"At the end of the nineteenth century, many people considered physics as the foremost of the sciences, and perhaps Nobel saw it this way as well. His own research was also closely tied to physics," they added.
