Myanmar has been in the headlines for some time. The reason for this is the conflict between the army and rebel groups due to which the situation in Myanmar has worsened considerably.

But now Myanmar has done something that has brought its name to the top in the list of countries around the world. It’s production of opium.

Myanmar has left Afghanistan behind to come first in the list of the counties producing opium. In such a situation, the question that naturally comes to mind is in which respect has Myanmar topped the list of countries around the world? The answer is opium production.

Myanmar has left Afghanistan behind in terms of opium production and with this has become the largest producer of opium in the world.

According to United Nations (UN), opium production also contributes significantly to Myanmar's economy. Since last year, the Taliban government in Afghanistan had banned opium production in the country, due to which the production of opium in Afghanistan fell by about 95%. At the same time, about 1080 metric tons of opium is produced every year in Myanmar.

Earlier, opium worth 1 billion dollars was produced and sold in Myanmar, but now it has increased and opium worth up to 2.4 billion dollars is now not only produced but also sold in Myanmar. About 4.1% of the country's economy comes from this.

Ever since junta (army) rule came into force in Myanmar, opium production has also increased in the country. And in the coming times also, Myanmar junta is not going to reduce opium production in the country.
