The longest serving Prime Minister of Pakistan (9 years, 3 different tenures), Nawaz Sharief will return to Pakistan today.

There had been discussions about his return for the last few months but today the day has come when the former Pakistani PM will return to his country. Nawaz's family, political party and supporters are very excited about his return.

Nawaz will return to Pakistan after 4 years. He has been in London, England for the last 4 years. Before returning to Pakistan, Nawaz had come to Dubai and from here he will return to Pakistan.

Nawaz has been facing many allegations of corruption when he was the PM of Pakistan. Nawaz was sentenced to jail in these corruption cases, but citing treatment, Nawaz went to London and to avoid punishment, he stayed in London and did not come to Pakistan.

Nawaz has got relief in the recent past which have made his path to return to Pakistan easier. A Pakistani court on Thursday granted bail to Nawaz in corruption cases.

According to the information, Nawaz was granted bail till October 24. Besides, the arrest warrant issued against Nawaz was also cancelled. Not only this, after losing the post of PM in 2017, the court of Pakistan had imposed a lifetime ban on Nawaz from contesting elections to become the PM of Pakistan again. But a few months ago Nawaz got relief from that ban.

In July, Azam Nazeer Tarar, the then Law Minister of Pakistan Government, amended the country's election law and abolished the lifetime ban on Nawaz from contesting elections. In such a situation, Nawaz can contest in the elections to be held in Pakistan in January next year.
