New Delhi: In his first address to the United Nations, US Vice President Kamala Harris said that the fundamental element of democracy depends on the empowerment of women. In such a situation, if women are kept away from the decision process, then it shows the flaw of democracy.

Harris, in her address to the 65th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, expressed concern over the decline in democracy and independence around the world.

Pressure increasing on Democracy: Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris said, 'We know that there is increasing pressure on democracy today. We have seen that there has been a decrease in freedom worldwide in 15 years. Experts even believe that the past year was the worst in terms of the deteriorating state of democracy. Also freedom around the world.
