Humanitarian Crisis Unfolds in Gaza as Israel-Hamas Conflict Escalates

Israel and Palestinian organization Hamas have been fighting a war since October 7. Israel has also intensified ground operations on the Gaza Strip to eliminate Hamas.

Israeli army is entering Gaza Strip areas one after another. Meanwhile, a senior Israeli official said that Israel has no intention of recapturing the Gaza Strip or controlling it for a long time. He told that Israeli forces have launched their offensive campaign against Hamas in the Palestinian coastal area.

"We believe the current operations are effective and successful. We will continue to move forward," the Israeli official told the media late Tuesday night on condition of anonymity. Without giving any specific time limit, he said that our operation is not unlimited or forever. He said that our operation is not open-ended at all.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said earlier this week that Israel wants control of Gaza indefinitely. However, Israel has not yet made anything clear regarding its long term plans for the Gaza Strip.

A senior Israeli official said "The idea behind Israel's military attack is to eliminate the power of Hamas, which attacks us and threatens us. We understand that it will take time. Even if we continue our military operations." "After we complete this phase of military operations, we will still need to take some action against their remaining military infrastructure."

The battle that will take place between the buildings and structures in Gaza's Build Up Area (FIBUA) will pose serious challenges to Israeli ground troops and armored units.

Gaza's narrow streets may not be an ideal place for armored units such as tanks or infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs), as Hamas operatives can use buildings to fire anti-tank guided missiles. Hamas has claimed that a fierce battle broke out when the Israeli army entered Gaza and fired machine guns and anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM). Israel has targeted Hamas' surveillance post and launch post of anti-tank missile system
