The White House has said that Iran was involved in planning an operation against commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

Its intelligence was vital to enabling Houthi rebels, who control large parts of Yemen, to target ships. Actually, at present there is a government of Houthi rebels in Yemen, which had captured the capital Sanaa in 2014.

This government has support from Iran. These people are in support of the Palestinians and are targeting commercial shipping in the Red Sea with drones and missiles.

According to the reports, White House national security spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a statement, we know that Iran was deeply involved in planning the campaign against commercial ships in the Red Sea. This is an international challenge that demands collective action.

However, Iran has denied any involvement in the attacks being carried out by the Houthis in the Red Sea.

Due to their attacks in the Red Sea, ships are being forced to change their routes. The US last week announced a naval alliance involving 20 countries aimed at helping protect ships from attacks in the Red Sea. Some countries involved have said that operations to protect commercial traffic will take place as part of existing naval agreements.

A cargo ship going from Turkey to India was hijacked by Yemen's Houthi rebels in the Red Sea. There were about 50 crew members from different countries on board the ship.
