Cheistha Kochhar, a 33-year-old Indian student in London, was crushed to death by a truck while returning home on a bicycle last week, resulting in her death. The student has previously worked with public policy think tank NITI Aayog. She was doing her PhD at the London School of Economics.

Former CEO of NITI Aayog Amitabh Kant shared the news of his demise in an online post. He shared on X that Cheista Kochhar has worked with me in the program #LIFE. She became the victim of a terrible accident while cycling in London. She was brilliant, brave and brilliant.

Kochhar was hit by a garbage truck on March 19. At the time of the accident, her husband Prashant was ahead of her and he ran to save her. She died on the spot.

His father General SP Kochhar (retd) is in London to receive her mortal remains. He has shared a post related to his memories on LinkedIn.

“I am still trying to collect the mortal remains of my daughter Cheistha Kochhar in London. She was crushed by a truck while she was cycling from LSE (where she was doing her PhD) on March 19. This incident has given us a tough time. And the family has been completely shaken.

Cheistha Kochhar, who earlier lived in Gurugram, had gone to London in September last year to pursue her PhD from the London School of Economics. Before this, she had also studied from Delhi University, Ashoka University and University of Pennsylvania and Chicago.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she was a Senior Advisor in India's National Behavioral Insights Unit at NITI Aayog during 2021-23.
