Israel today shared a video showing how it intercepted hundreds of missiles and drones fired during Iran's attack on Israeli territory. Iran attacked Israel on Saturday night. The attack was carried out in response to a suspected Israeli airstrike on Iran's embassy compound in Damascus, Syria on April 1. Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps officers were killed in the attack in Damascus.

The Israeli army said that Iran fired more than 300 drones and missiles towards Israel. 99 percent of them were stopped before reaching Israeli territory. The army said that, with the help of America, Jordan, Britain and other allied countries, drones and missiles were stopped.

The Israel Defense Forces captioned the video posted on Twitter: "This is what a 99% interception rate looks like. Operational footage of the air defense system protecting Israeli airspace."

The Israeli Army said that about 170 drones, 30 cruise missiles and 120 ballistic missiles were fired at Israel from Iran.

Israel has an important Iron Dome air defense system. This system has been active since 2011. It stops rockets coming towards Israel.

In the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, Iron Dome has been relied upon heavily to protect Israeli cities from repeated rockets fired from Gaza and Lebanon.

It is a part of Israel's multi-tier missile defense system and is designed to intercept short range rockets at ranges of up to 70 kilometers.

Israel also has other missile defense systems such as Arrow to counter ballistic missiles and David Sling for medium-range rocket or missile attacks.
