The Israeli Army on Monday managed to free two hostages who had been abducted by the Hamas in October last year, by conducting a special operation in Rafah city, south of Gaza.

In October, 253 people were abducted during Hamas attacks on southern Israel. These 253 hostages included 61-year-old Fernando Marmon and 70-year-old Luis Her who have now been released from the captivity of Hamas.

According to the Israeli Army, the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), Shin Bet and Special Police Unit conducted a joint rescue operation in Rafah and freed them.

The IDF released a video of their release on Twitter, writing that "the hostages are with us, safe and sound." Watch the moment hostages Fernando Simon Marmon and Luis They were rescued during an operation in Rafa yesterday.

According to the reports the hostages were kept on the second floor of a building in Rafah. The Hamas said that a few Israeli hostages were killed in the IDF operation and some others were wounded.

At least 13 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes in Rafah in the Gaza Strip after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected Hamas' ceasefire terms and vowed to increase attacks on southern Gaza City. US President Joe Biden has described Israel's military action in Gaza as "unbelievable" and said that he is continuously working to put pressure on Israel and Hamas for a ceasefire in the war.

At least 28,064 people have been killed in the war between Palestinian militants and the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip. A statement from the health ministry of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip said the new figures included 117 deaths in the past 24 hours. A total of 67,611 people have been injured in Gaza since the war began on October 7.
