The Francis Scott Bridge in the American city of Baltimore collapsed after colliding with a ship. Maryland Transportation Authority gave information about this. "The collision caused the I-695 bridge collapse," the MTA posted on social media platform

The Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore, Maryland which crosses the Patapsco River has reportedly collapsed within the last few minutes after being Struck by a Large Container Ship; a Mass Casualty Incident has been Declared with over a Dozen Cars and many Individuals said to be in water.

Earlier, the MTA had said that due to an "incident" on the bridge, lanes of the interstate were closed in both directions and traffic was being redirected. A police spokesperson for the Baltimore Police Department told NBC News that people were also possibly in the river.

"I can confirm that at 1:35 a.m., Baltimore City Police received a report of a partial bridge collapse, possibly with workers in the water on the Francis Scott Key Bridge," Detective Nikki Fennoy said in a statement. The Singapore-flagged container ship had stopped under the bridge early Tuesday, the Singapore-flagged website Marinetraffic showed.
