Hamas did not want world to know about rape of female hostages, says US
The US State Department has said that the week-long ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas broke because Hamas refused to release the female hostages. According to the US State Department, Hamas did not want these women to tell the world about the sexual violence that happened to them.
The six-day long ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian organization Hamas had ended without a longer ceasefire deal as the Hamas militants did not want the world to know about the rape of Israeli women hostages, claimed US officials.
Regarding the breakdown of the agreement, Hamas said that it did not have any hostage, so whom would it release.
Therefore the agreement could not be taken forward. On the last day of the agreement, Hamas released two female hostages. Now a different claim is being made from America's side.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that the US has no reason to doubt reports that Hamas has committed sexual violence and rape with female hostages. However, Hamas has rejected these allegations and termed them false.
Recently, some reports claimed that Hamas fighters had also sexually assaulted Israeli women during the attack. Israeli police officers investigating the October 7 attack have found such evidence. This evidence points towards sexual violence being committed against men as well as women.
Israeli police have collected thousands of statements, photographs and video clips as evidence. The police have also claimed to have found many such evidences, which point towards the women being brutally murdered after being raped. The police had found many things near the dead bodies which pointed towards rape. Many eyewitnesses have also confirmed that she was raped during the attack in their statements recorded before the police.
A special session of the United Nations (UN) was held on Monday. In this, the issue of sexual crimes against Israeli women was raised after the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. Israeli Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan said, "On October 7, Israel witnessed the biggest massacre since the Second World War. Many atrocities against the Israeli people were worse than the atrocities committed by ISIS and Hitler. Hamas burned families alive. "Killed their children in front of their parents."
