Istanbul: At least 29 people have lost their lives about 166 others sustained injuries in two back to back explosions after a Football match hosted by Besiktas here on Saturday. Among the dead, 27 were police men.

The first blast stormed outside the Vodafone Arena Football stadium after a major game between Besiktas and Bosphorus while other attack was carried out by a suicide bomber in a nearby park

Security forces, however, held 10 suspected for the same.

Police bus, which was outside the stadium, was the prime target of the attackers, said Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu. President Recap Tayyip Erdogan, who was here at the time of the attack, said the timing of the attack stamps the target of attackers of causing maximum loss of lives.

"We have witnessed once more here in Istanbul the ugly face of terror which tramples down any form of value and morals," he said in a statement.

“I curse the murderers strongly,” said Prime Minister Binali Yildirim.
