This attack happened during a music concert of Picnic Rock Band. An eyewitness to the Moscow attack said that the firing suddenly started a few minutes before the start of the Picnic Rock band's concert. After this there was screaming and people started running to save their lives.

Interfax news agency quoted emergency services as saying that two to five people dressed in military uniforms, armed with automatic weapons, entered the concert hall to hide their identities and opened fire.

Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement posted on social media. This is the most gruesome attack in Russia in the last few years.

11 people have been arrested after this attack. The head of Russia's Federal Security Service informed the country's President Vladimir Putin on Saturday.

President Vladimir Putin described the attack on a Russian concert hall as a "barbaric terrorist act."

"I am speaking to you today in connection with a bloody, barbaric terrorist act, the victims of which were dozens of innocent, peaceful people," Putin said in his first public comments since the attack.

It is being claimed that the four accused who had opened fire on people at the incident site are also among the arrested suspects. He was arrested after a "car chase" in the Bryansk region of Russia.

On March 7, America had issued an advisory for its citizens living in Russia. In which it was clearly said not to participate in any major programs organized in Moscow.
