The United Nations has said that ever since Israel started a bombing campaign against the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, more than one million people have been evacuated from their homes in the northern Gaza Strip.

Israel is preparing a ground attack on the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army has mobilized armored vehicles on the outskirts of Gaza for ground attacks. Israel clearly says that in retaliation for the attacks on them on October 6, it is attacking Hamas and targeting its workers and operational centers. More than 1,400 Israelis were killed and hundreds were kidnapped in Hamas attacks.

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday called the country's expanded emergency cabinet, which included former opposition MPs. He said, “Hamas thought that we would be destroyed, but we will destroy Hamas.

Israeli officials say any ground attack on Gaza would depend on a "political decision". In preparation for a possible attack on Gaza, Israel has deployed more than 400,000 reserves, with the combined strength of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Israeli Air Force (IAF).

More than 2,670 people have died in Gaza due to continuous bombardment by Israel, including more than 700 children. Israel has stopped the supply of water, electricity and food to the densely populated Gaza Strip. However, water supply was restored in the southern region on Sunday.

Israel faces the difficult challenge of rescuing about 150 hostages. It is believed that Hamas has kept these hostages in tunnels and underground bunkers. Experts have warned that Israel would be forced to engage the enemy in close combat while losing its firepower superiority as Gaza's complex network of tunnels is a key factor in any attack.

Bilal al-Kedra, the top Hamas commander responsible for the Kibbutz Nirim massacre in Israel, was killed in an Israeli air strike on Sunday in the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip. Another Israeli airstrike on Gaza City on Saturday killed Murad Abu Murad, a senior Hamas military commander who was leading the Islamic group's air operations.
