New Delhi: The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that Bharat Biotech will have to give more information about listing its covaxine vaccine for emergency use.

WHO on Covaxin:

A document released on the World Health Organization website said that Bharat Biotech had expressed an expression of interest on 19 April. More information is needed in this regard.

According to the document, a meeting in this regard is expected to be held in May-June 2021. The agency said that if the product presented for evaluation meets the criteria for listing, the WHO will publish its results in a comprehensive manner. The duration of the emergency use indexing process depends on the quality of the data presented by the vaccine manufacturer and the data that meet the WHO criteria.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech International Limited has told the government that it has already submitted 90 percent of the documents to the WHO for listing the covaxin vaccine for emergency use.

The remaining documents are expected to be submitted by June. Sources gave this information in New Delhi on Monday.
