New Delhi: Vigilance has been increased in many countries regarding the Omicron variant of Corona. Daily new cases in Britain have crossed 1 lakh for the first time. In view of this, British regulators have approved the use of Pfizer for vaccination in children aged 5 to 11 years. On the other hand, US health regulators have approved the anti-Covid-19 pill of Pfizer, which President Joe Biden has described as a big step.

UK: More than a million cases

The maximum cases of corona in Britain were 93,045 last week, which has increased to 1,06,122 in the last 24 hours. In the last wave of Corona, the maximum cases in Britain reached 68,000 in a day. Due to this there is also concern about the Omicron variant in the country.

British regulators have decided to vaccinate children under the age of 12 at a time when the government there has reduced the period of isolation required for the infected from 10 days to 7 days.

The Omicron form of the corona is less lethal than its delta form. The UK government has said this on the basis of a new analysis released on Thursday by its Health Protection Agency (UKHSA). People with Omicron infection are significantly less likely to develop severe symptoms, according to the agency.

The agency said that preliminary results suggest that people infected with Omicron instead of Delta are 30 to 45 percent less likely to need additional care. Their chances of being hospitalized are also less by 50 to 70 percent. The findings also show that the effectiveness of a booster dose of the corona vaccine wears off after 10 weeks, but experts still insist that the vaccine is the best defense against it.

Corona in Italy:

Italy Corona cases are increasing, strict restrictions are being imposed to curb them. The Italian government has banned all public places on New Year's Eve and made wearing masks mandatory again.

COVID-19 in Korea:

In South Korea, 109 people died of covid-19 in the last 24 hours while the cases of infection are increasing continuously. Officials have cautioned that the highly contagious Omicron form will soon overtake all forms and dominate. There have been 6,916 cases of infection in the country in a single day.
