There is a tussle going on between India and Maldives for the last few days. China is taking advantage of the ongoing conflict between the two countries. Maldives' newly elected President Mohammed Muizzu is currently on a five-day visit to China.

Muizzu's new alliance with China was seen during his first state visit to Beijing. At the same time, Dragon also seems to be taking full advantage of the opportunity. China described Maldives as an old friend.

With this, a total of 20 agreements have been signed between the two countries. In fact, amidst the diplomatic dispute with India over the objectionable comments of Maldivian ministers against India and PM Modi, Maldivian President Mohammed Muizzu's love for China has now come to the fore.

Newly elected President Mohammad Muizzu deepened his relations with China during his first state visit to Beijing. Not only this, the President of Maldives has also called India a threat to sovereignty. Taking advantage of the tension with India, China has made Maldives an old friend. Xi Jinping, in his address at the Great Hall of the People, called Mohammad Muizzu an old friend. China had set the stage for further investment in the Indian Ocean archipelago by agreeing to a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

The relations between India and Maldives have come under strain after the new government assumed power in the Island country. Three ministers have been suspended there after they used derogatory words for prime minister Narendra Modi.

Many Indian travel companies have suspended flights to Maldives amid a call for boycott Maldives by the Indian celebreties.
