The children who were found in the jungles of Amazon after 40 days were in fact being taken to another city by their mother.

According to a report published in the New York Times, the mother of four children was taking them to another city 1st May when their plane crashed in the forests. The pilots and mother were killed on the spot but the children had gone missing.

Manuel Ranoc, the father of the children said that the area of South Colombia where they lived had been occupied by an armed group. This group kidnapped small children and trained them to become members of their group.

The Cessna 206 plan had crashed on May 1st in Amazon forests. Three people died in this crash. The mother was also killed. The wreckage of the plane was recovered after 16 days but the children had not been found then.

After getting the information about them the operation Hope was started to rescue the children by the Colombian government and military. The Colombian army rescued the children 40 days later, on 9 June. Their age are 13, 9, 4 and 1 year. During the rescue operation the soldiers found scissors, milk bottle, hair-tie and temporary shelter in the forest.

The rescuers had played a recorded message in their grandmother's voice, so that the children could stop at one place or give a signal.
