The ongoing war between Israel and Gaza is not stopping yet, nor has the terrorist group Hamas released all the Israeli hostages yet. But now the Israeli cabinet has approved an agreement with Hamas for the release of dozens of hostages from Gaza.

A meeting regarding this was held to discuss the modalities of the temporary truce on Tuesday evening in Israel. Hamas will free about 50 children, their mother and other hostage women.

According to Israeli media, the agreement primarily focuses on women and children captives and negotiations on the release of foreign hostages are not currently on the table.

Earlier, the Israeli Prime Minister's Office had said in a release, "As part of the development on the issue of the release of our hostages, PM Benjamin Netanyahu will convene a meeting of the War Cabinet today."

Hamas terrorist group had attacked on October 7 and taken about 240 Israeli people hostage, which included about 40 children, elderly people and dozens of Thai and Nepali citizens. The Times of Israel, citing Channel 12, said that the deal for the release of hostages would also include the release of about 150 to 300 Palestinian prisoners, including women and minor prisoners.

According to reports, the ceasefire may be extended to allow the release of more hostages after the initial 50 hostages. Now news has come out that the moratorium on fighting will continue for 4 days. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said that his country will need to take "difficult decisions" in the case of people held hostage by the Hamas terrorist group in the Gaza Strip.

Under this agreement, both sides will stop fighting for the next five days and release 50 or more hostages every 24 hours. But after this news, PM Benjamin Netanyahu had said that till now no ceasefire agreement has been reached in exchange for the release of hostages.
