French court suspends burkini ban to resort owners’ disappointment

Paris: Disappointing the French resort owners, the country’s highest administrative court on Friday suspended a controversial ban on burkini, an ‘Islamic swimsuit’ which covers a woman from head to the heels. Most of the nationals as well as the resort owners were, however, expecting that the court would rather rule in their favour reimposing the ban in nearly 30 towns of the country.

“The measure was a clearly illicit violation of fundamental freedoms,” said the court. Moreover, a petition in this regard was filed by two right blocs in the court seeking to overturn the ban.
