New Delhi: The Nobel Prizes in Chemistry for 2021 have been announced. This year this honor has been given to Benjamin List of Germany and David Macmillan of America. Both have been given this award for their research in the field of asymmetric organocatalysis.

"Organic catalysts can be used to drive multitudes of chemical reactions," the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences said in a statement.

"Using these reactions, researchers can now more efficiently construct anything from new pharmaceuticals to molecules that can capture light in solar cells."

Nobel Prize in Chemistry:

The work of Macmillan and List helped to open a new vista in organocatalysis with the creation of catalysts that are selective for an enantiomer. This technology is used to paint everything from medicines to solar units. The person receiving this award is given a gold medal along with $1.14 million in cash.

The 2021 Nobel Prize for Physics was announced on Tuesday. Tsukuro Manebe, Klaus Hasselmann and Giorgio Parisi have been awarded the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physics. These three people have been given this award for their unprecedented contribution to our understanding of complex physics systems.

This prize money is given by the will of Alfred Noble. Alfred Nobel had started these awards. He was a Swedish inventor and died in the year 1895. In the coming days, the Nobel Prize for Chemistry, Literature, Peace and Economics will be announced. The announcement of the winners of the awards started from Monday and by next Monday all the winners will be announced one by one.
