There is a war going on between Israel and the Palestinian organization Hamas since October 7, 2023. Amidst the war, Israel has given permission to Palestinians to offer prayers with some restrictions in Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque during Ramadan starting from March 10. Due to which there is a possibility of increasing tension. On this step of Israel, religious experts and Palestinian politicians say that Israel deliberately wants to provoke the Palestinians.

The Al Aqsa Mosque in the Israeli-occupied Old City of Jerusalem is one of the holiest sites in the world for Muslims. Al Aqsa Mosque is considered the third holiest place in Islam after Mecca and Medina. Jews know it as Temple Mount.

Last week, Israel's far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir argued that Palestinian residents of the occupied West Bank should not be allowed to enter Jerusalem to pray during Ramadan. He had said that there should be a complete ban on entry of Al-Aqsa Mosque for Palestinian citizens. However, no decision has been taken yet regarding the citizens of the West Bank. But according to the report, this limit regarding entry will be based on criteria like age and gender.

In 2000, riots broke out here during the visit of Israel's then opposition leader Ariel Sharon. There was a dispute here in May 2021 also and the situation became normal only after 11 days. At that time there was a war-like situation between Israel and Hamas. Israel has declared Hamas a terrorist organization.

It is often seen that the conditions of this place change during the month of Ramadan. This is the reason why this time the Israeli government has banned entry into the mosque.

The Biden administration has expressed its concern over Ben Gvir's demand. The Biden administration says that the ministers could create tension at the holy site during the month of Ramadan and this move could further inflame the growing anger in the Middle East.
