America's counterattack: More than 85 targets linked to Iran in Syria and Iraq targeted

America carried out dozens of air strikes on Iranian posts in Iraq and Syria destroying several posts and killing many people.

However, America and Iran have not yet shared any information on the death toll. America has taken this retaliatory action after the death of three American soldiers in a drone attack in Jordan last week. America had already issued a warning regarding the attacks, although it did not give any information about when and where the attacks would take place.

After the killing of American soldiers in a drone attack in Jordan last Sunday, Washington blamed Iranian soldiers and ordered large-scale air strikes. US President Joe Biden said in a statement, "Our response begins today, we will choose the time and place." He further said, "America does not want conflict in the Middle East or anywhere in the world, but those who want to harm us need to know that if you harm any American, we will respond."

Both Washington and Tehran have tried to avoid full-scale war. The US wishes to prevent further attacks while avoiding direct conflict with Iran. None of America's initial attacks were on Iranian territory. US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that the strikes targeted only the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as well as its associated militia groups. The US Army targeted more than 85 targets with its bombing planes.

"On February 2, at 4:00 p.m., US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces conducted airstrikes in Iraq and Syria against Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Force and affiliated militia groups," US Central Command wrote in a post on Twitter. US military forces hit more than 85 targets with bombers.

More than 125 precision munitions were used in the air strikes. Those struck included command and control and control facilities associated with militia groups and Iranian forces. Along with intelligence centers, rocket, missile, drone storage facilities were also involved, which helped in attacks against America.
