The United States and Britain on Saturday night attacked more than 30 positions of Houthi rebels in Yemen. These attacks are being carried out to destroy Iran-backed groups.

Earlier, America had carried out dozens of air strikes on Iranian posts in Iraq and Syria in which many people were killed. However, America and Iran have not yet shared any information on the death toll.

America is taking this retaliatory action after the death of three American soldiers in the drone attack in Jordan last week. America had already issued a warning regarding the attacks.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), at 4 pm local time (2:30 am Friday IST), its forces conducted airstrikes against the IRGC Quds Force and affiliated militia groups in Iraq and Syria.

US military forces attacked more than 85 targets, including many aircraft including long-range bombers sent from the US.

CentCom said the targets attacked included command and control operations centers, intelligence centers, rocket and missile and unmanned aerial vehicle storage, logistics and ammunition supply chain centers of militia groups and their IRGC sponsors.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin had said that these attacks were carried out on seven centers which are used by the IRGC and allied militias to attack the US military.

He said, “This is the beginning of our retaliatory action. The President has directed additional action to hold the IRGC and affiliated militias accountable for their attacks on U.S. and coalition forces.

Austin said, “Attacks will be carried out at times and places of our choosing. We do not want conflict in West Asia or anywhere else, but the President and I will not tolerate attacks on American forces. We will take any necessary action to protect America, our forces, and our interests.
