22 killed, many injured in shooting in America's Maine, gunman still absconding
Lewiston City Councilman Robert McCarthy said officials have confirmed 22 deaths and several injuries.
At least 22 people were killed and dozens were injured in a shooting in Lewiston, Maine, US, with police saying the gunman is still at large. Officials have put the death toll at more than 20.
The shooting took place at a bowling alley, according to ABC News, which also reported shots fired at a local bar and a Walmart distribution center.

According to local media, the shootings took place at a bowling alley and at least one other location, a local restaurant and bar, with police saying the gunman was still at large.
Local police posted a photo on Facebook of the shooter, who appeared to be carrying a weapon inside the bowling alley.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department wrote on Facebook that law enforcement is investigating the involvement of two shooters in this incident.
He further said that we have asked all businesses to close during the investigation. The suspect is still being investigated. Maine Governor Janet Mills said she is "aware of and has been briefed on the active shooter situation in Lewiston."
According to the White House, President Joe Biden has also been informed. Citing sources, CNN reported that at least 50 to 60 people were injured in the incidents, but it was not clear how many were shot.
Maine Congressman Jared Golden wrote on 'X' that "Like all Mainers, I am horrified by the events that took place in Lewiston tonight. It is my hometown."
He said that right now, we are all looking to local law enforcement as they gain control of the situation and gather information. Our hearts break for those who have been affected.
