17 girls charred to death at school dormitory in Thailand

Bangkok: As many as 17 girls were killed by fire which swept through school dormitory in Northern Thailand on Sunday evening.

According to the police souces, 38 students were present in the dorm at Pithakkiart Witthaya School in Chiang Rai. The school takes children from the region poor hill's tribe.

According to the police sources,

  • At the time of fire broke out, many girls aged between five and 13 were asleep.
  • Two girls are still missing and five were injured.
  • The cause of fire is still under investigation.
  • The victims bodies had been sent to the hospital for identification and the search for the two missing girls still continues.
