Woman burns herself with her two children in Ballia of UP

Ballia: Fed up with frequent domestic fights over her husband’s unemployment, a 26-year-old woman namely Anita Pandey set herself and her two small offspring on fire at Baleur village in Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

The children succumbed to burn injuries while Anita was rushed to a hospital where her condition was stated to be serious.

Highlights:

• Anita was frustrated with her husband’s unemployment.
• She often used to fight with her husband Brijesh and asked him to find some work.
• Being tired of the circumstances, Anita locked herself, along with her children, in a room at her in-laws’ house.
• She set herself and the children, two-year-old Trishna and four-year-old Rishabh, on fire.
• The kids died on the spot while Anita was rushed to a hospital in serious condition.
• Brijesh also sustained burn injuries while trying to save them.
• The bodies of the children had been sent for post-mortem.
• “The investigation is underway”, said the Superintendent of Police (SP) Manoj Kumar Jha.
