Minister of state for Railways Manoj Sinha injured in accident

Gorakhpur: Minister of state for Railways Manoj Sinha met with an accident when he was on his way to Gorakhpur from Barabanki on Friday night.

The minister, who was scheduled to address a public meeting in Kushinagar district of UP on Saturday, was heading towards Gorakhpur via road.

On the way, a drunk man suddenly appeared on the road which forced the first vehicle of the convoy to press emergency break. Subsequently, remaining vehicles collided with each other, said Rajghat SO Sitaram Yadav.

The state minister suffered injuries in the accident, which took place at around 7.30 pm, and was taken to the Apollo Hospital here for treatment.

Manoj Sinha's car also got badly damaged in the accident, while he left elbow got fractured.

After the initial treatment, he was sent to the Railway Hospital, where he was referred to the AIIMS Delhi for operation of his injured elbow. He has already left for AIIMS Delhi in an aircraft.

Gorakhpur district magistrate and superintendent of police immediately rushed to the the Apollo hospital.
