UP Polls 2017: Villagers boycott voting in Mirzapur assembly constituency

Mirzapur: The people of the Mirzapur constituency boycotted the seventh and the last phase of polling on Wednesday to express anger over developmental issues.

No votes were cast at the booth number 99 of the constituency till 1200 hours.

They (people) were disappointed with the government over no developmental work being done in their village.

The angry voters stated, “Since our votes do not benefit our own area, we have decided not to vote for any candidate in this assembly election. The leaders we elect pay no heed to our necessities. We are still living in the same condition since past many years. We have been left with no other options but to boycott polling.”

Voting for five constituencies of the district namely Chhanbey, Mirzapur, Majhawan, Chunar and Marihan has started and the results will be declared on March 11.
