Jaunpur: Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday paid a visit to residence of Santosh Yadav, who was martyred during Mathura violence, in Juanpur district of Uttar Pradesh and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh each to the families of Yadav as well as Mukul Dwivedi.

Dwivedi was the superintendent of police (SP) who was also killed during Jawaharbagh eviction.

What Akhilesh Yadav said:

  • Akhilesh said the Jawaharbagh violence was an unfortunate event.
  • Some people are politicizing the issue, which is obviously not righteous.
  • Political groups like Bhartiya Janata Party seek issues to politicize and make conspiracies to defame ruling parties.
  • We will always stand by the side of martyrs’ families.
  • It is our prime responsibility to help them in every possible way.
  • We have promised to provide government jobs to the family members of martyred officers.
  • It has been two years since PM Modi took office but, there have been no changes or development.
