GHAZIABAD: In the wake of rising Covid-19 cases in many states, the Uttar Pradesh government has sounded an alert and intensified its restrictions.

Notably, the government made 14-day home quarantine mandatory for those arriving from other states, especially Kerala, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh where there has been a recent upsurge in numbers. Officials said a guideline for people arriving via flights and trains will be issued separately.

District magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey said the Covid protocols, including wearing masks and maintaining social distancing , will be strictly implemented. Instructions have been given to pay more attention to testing and tracing. “The government is on alert ahead of the Holi festival. Also, an eye will be kept on people coming from other states,” he added.

Officials said a letter has also been issued by Meerut divisional commissioner to all district authorities in the zone to increase testing and contact tracing.
