LUCKNOW: BSP president Mayawati on Saturday asked the Uttar Pradesh government to pay proper attention on testing and cleanliness in hospitals as the number of coronavirus cases continue to surge. She shared her advice on social media.

The comments come a day after the state witnessed a record 50 deaths and 2,667 new infections, taking the toll to 1,348 and tally to 60,771.

BSP President Mayawati:

She asked Uttar Pradesh government to pay extra attention towards COVID testing. She shared a tweet on social media.

"In view of the daily rise of corona epidemic in country's largest state Uttar Pradesh, the government should immediately give proper attention to corona testing, facilities in hospitals and cleanliness in COVID centres. This is the demand of the BSP," Mayawati tweeted.

COVID Cases:

Uttar Pradesh recorded its highest single-day jump of 2,712 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours. Taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 60,771 till date.

Covid-related deaths also saw the highest single-day jump of 50 — the fourth highest in the country — taking the toll to 1,348 in the state — the sixth highest in the country.

As per the state health bulletin, a total of 37,712 patients have been discharged in the state with over 1,900 patients recovering in the past 24 hours.
