Lucknow, With an emphasis on strict screening, proper treatment and aggressive vaccination, Uttar Pradesh has been able to restrict the number of fresh Covid-19 cases below 50 for over two consecutive months.

Indicating consistent decline, the state of Uttar Pradesh on Monday recorded as many as 9 fresh cases, testifying success of the multi-pronged approach adopted by the state government in limiting the transmission of the virus in the densely populated state.

The Fresh cases have declined by more than 38,000 from their peak which was 38,055 on April 24. In sharp contrast to the most populous state, states like Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have been reporting a greater surge of fresh Covid-19 infections (daily cases ranging from 15,000-2,000)

With strengthening the public health system, clear risk communication and active participation, the Yogi-led Uttar Pradesh has been able to effectively manage the pandemic with a steady decline in the number of fresh cases and covid deaths as compared to all other states.

The lesser number of fresh cases on Monday, however, is not because Uttar Pradesh, like other states, has decreased COVID testing. UP under its stringent T3 testing mechanism-'Trace, Test and Treat' conducted nearly 1.40 lakh Covid tests in the last 24 hours.

Continuing its positive recovery trend, Uttar Pradesh also saw as many as 4 Covid-19 patients discharged, adding up to the recovery of 16,87,015 people so far.

Consequently, the daily test positivity rate (TPR) in Uttar Pradesh has dipped to lower than 0.01 per cent from a high of over 16.84 per cent in April. Test positivity rate is the percentage of samples that test positive out of the total numbers of samples evaluated.

Uttar Pradesh has been showing a much better recovery in terms of low daily positivity rate as compared to several other places with a lesser population such as Kerala (10.33%).

Uttar Pradesh has recorded a decline by over 99 per cent in the number of active covid cases since its peak on April 30, as the active cases have dropped from 3,10,783 to 123.

With the Covid condition in the state improving day by day, the recovery rate has climbed up to 98.8 per cent.

Active and fresh cases decline to zero in 42 UP districts

The active and fresh cases have declined to zero in Amroha, Ayodhya, Badaun, Baghpat, Ballia, Barabanki, Basti, Bahraich, Bijnor, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Etah, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Fatehpur, Gonda, Hamirpur, Hapur, Hardoi, Hathras, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Kasganj, Kaushambi, Kushinagar, Lakhimpur-Kheri, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Mirzapur, Mainpuri, Mau, Pratapgarh, Rampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shamli, Shravasti, Sitapur, Unnao and Sonbhadra.

UP close to administering 12 crore vaccine doses

As Uttar Pradesh continues to intensify its vaccination drive with the aim of vaccinating its entire eligible population soon, the state has so far provided the 'protective shield' to over 11,96,17,743 people.

In another achievement, the most populous state has also achieved the milestone of administering the first dose of the covid-19 vaccine to over 62.67 per cent of the eligible adult population. Over 9.30 crore people have received the first dose of the vaccine so far.
