Lucknow/Gonda: By improving the health infrastructure, our government has paved the way for the development of the state, as no place can develop fully in absence of medical resources. Every district will soon have a medical college to provide accessible healthcare services to the citizens in the state, said Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while launching 144 development and medical projects of Rs 1,132 crore in Gonda.

"To provide proper medical treatment and healthcare facilities to every needy in the state, the government has worked in a planned and phased manner to improve the existing healthcare system and expand the health infrastructure in the state," he said while laying the foundation stone of Government Medical College at Rs 282 crore in Gonda.

"Today, the foundation stone of a medical college in Gonda is being laid with the resolution to start admissions in this institute by the year 2022-23," he added.

Hailing the government reforms for unprecedented development of Gonda district, the CM said, "Despite facing wrath of natural calamities like floods, Gonda has made great progress. This has been possible because of several growth-oriented reforms implemented by the government at the ground level, along with ensuring safety of every individual."

Highlighting the improved road infrastructure in the state, the CM added, "Earlier, it used to take about 3 to 3.5 hours to travel from Gonda to Devipatan, now it takes even less than one hour."

Hitting out at the previous governments for neglecting development and turning the state into a centre of 'riots and chaos', the Chief Minister on the occasion said that, "none of the previous governments thought of building a medical college here. Has anyone thought why? The reason is that their development was just confined to their own benefit. Had they worked for the welfare of people, the place would have witnessed development long back."

Before 2017, curfews were imposed during the festive season. The common man was not even allowed to celebrate the festivals with peace. The previous governments did not respect the religious sentiments of people, however, Uttar Pradesh has been transformed in the span of the last four and a half years. Today, people are being given the gifts of welfare schemes right before festivals, he asserted.

He went on to say that, unlike the previous governments, our government fulfilled the aim of benefiting every eligible person and worked to push the unserved places on the path of development without discriminating on any basis.

Reiterating his resolve to work for the betterment of farmers, the CM said, "Those who pretend to be the 'wellwishers' of the farmers should know that the government has made a record payment of Rs 1.44 lakh crore to over 45 lakh cane farmers in the state."

Emphasising that the state government is functioning with full dedication to fulfil the goals set by it, he said, "We fulfilled our promise of building the grand Ram Temple and now others are claiming to be 'honest devotees' of Lord Ram"

Unleashing a scathing attack on Congress, the CM accused it of doing nothing despite the former ruling the state for many years. No good work was done for the welfare of the people of the state, and it was only indulged in corruption, he pointed out.

At the occasion, the Chief Minister handed over the symbolic keys of the houses to the beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural and Urban), and also gave benefits to the eligible beneficiaries under welfare schemes like Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana, Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Rashtriya Grameen Aajeevika Mission and Kanya Vivah Sahayta Yojana.

Medical Education Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, Social Welfare Minister Ramapati Shastri, Minister of MSME Sidharth Nath Singh, Brijbhushan Sharan among others remained present on the occasion.
