SP leader Rakesh Verma denies contesting from Kaiserganj seat

Lucknow: The feud in Samajwadi Party (SP) is far from over as ex-minister Rakesh Verma on Friday denied to contest from the Kaiserganj seat on which he was given the ticket.

Rakesh Verma, the son of veteran SP leader Beni Prasad Verma, is considered to be close aid of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

Talking to Newstrack.com, Rakesh said that he wants to contest the UP elections from Ramnagar seat instead of Kaiserganj assembly constituency of Behraich.

Meanwhile, in latest list released by Akhilesh Yadav, the Ramnagar seat has been allotted to the minister Arvind Singh Gope who was not figured in list released earlier by CM's uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav.

Gope is considered to be one of the think tanks of team Akhilesh.

What else Rakesh Verma said?

  • I am working in Ramnagar for the past two years.
  • I made a winnable atmosphere.
  • There is no question of contesting from a new assembly constituency.
