Smriti Irani attacks Rahul Gandhi over Amethi food park

Amethi: Replying to Rahul Gandhi's attack on PM Modi regarding Amethi food park, Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani on Saturday asked why Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi did not feel the pains of city people when Congress was in power.

"Congress ruled for years. But, then Rahul Gandhi was nowhere. Now, he is seeing the unemployment, pains, poverty of Amethi people. If Rahul Gandhi was always that concerned about the city people, Congress would have made the food park here," said Smriti Irani while addressing an election rally here.

It could be mentioned here that Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Garima Singh, Sanjay Singh's wife, from Amethi while Congress has allotted the ticket to Amita Singh.

The fifth phase of Uttar Pradesh elections, for 51 seats spread over 11 districts, will be held on February 27.
