Lucknow, In its second term, farmers' welfare continues to be the focal area for the Yogi Adityanath government. The government has so far disbursed approximately Rs 585 crores under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for farmers who suffered crop loss due to unseasonal rain that lashed the State during the financial year 2021-22.

According to Additional Chief Secretary Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Manoj Kumar Singh, "Following an assessment of crop losses, the government has pegged the crop loss in the state at around Rs 5,85,95,65,817. Working with full force for the interest of around 16,26,225 farmers, the state government has released the compensation to the respective district collectors who will distribute it among farmers through DBT."

The farmers' crops were badly damaged due to torrential rains and heavy floods in September and early October and later in January. The compensation amount will be directly transferred to the bank account (DBT) of farmers from the district treasury. In wake of the natural calamities, the government is providing financial assistance from the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF).

Standing firmly with the farmers suffering from crop loss due to floods, the Chief Minister has also instructed the officials to give appropriate and immediate compensation to the farmers.

Provide compensation for burnt crops

Regarding the unfortunate incidents of crops burning down due to electrical fires every year, the CM instructed the officers to take necessary safety measures. "Apart from the farmers covered by the crop insurance scheme, if any farmer's crop burns due to electrical fires, compensation must be provided to them as per the rules of the 'Mandi Samiti'.
