Rajeev Kumar, Rajni Kant Mishra likely to be UP CS, DGP respectively

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh government has come into action soon after the elevation of Yogi Adityanath as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister. With the portfolios already being allocated to the ministers, the race for the two top posts - Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) has hotted up.

If sources close to the department are to be believed, 1981 batch IAS, Rajeev Kumar - 1 would be the new Chief Secretary of the state, while the BSF ADG Rajni Kant Mishra may replace Javeed Ahmed as the new DGP.

Both Kumar and Mishra have been close to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and they also had the full support of Principal Secretary Nipendra Mishra.

Meanwhile, the 1987 batch IAS, Awanish Kumar Awasthi will be the new Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister.

Awasthi, who has been serving as a Joint Secretary in the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment since April, 2013, remained the District Magistrate of Lalitpur, Azamgarh, Badaun, Faizabad, Varanasi, Meerut and Gorakhpur.
