PM Narendra Modi to launch Ujjwala Yojana 2.0; Know everything about the scheme

New Delhi: The second phase of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, which was considered to be a game changer in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2017, will also start from Uttar Pradesh in view of the 2022 assembly elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtual launch the Ujjwala 2.0 scheme on Tuesday, August 10, from Mahoba in Bundelkhand.

Along with Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Puri, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present in this program. On this occasion, the Prime Minister will also interact with the beneficiaries of the scheme.

PM Modi to launch Ujjwala Yojana 2.0:

It is noteworthy that on May 1, 2016, the Ujjwala scheme was started by Prime Minister Modi from Ballia in Uttar Pradesh. After this, the BJP got a bumper victory in the 2017 assembly elections. At that time it was believed that this scheme launched for the poor and women proved to be a game changer. It is believed that once again the elections are on the head in the state, in such a situation, to get the support of women, the BJP is going to start the second phase of the Ujjwala scheme from the state.

Key points about this scheme:

Under the first phase of Ujjwala scheme, gas connections were given to more than two crore families in Uttar Pradesh.

Now in the second phase of the scheme, a target has been set to provide gas connections to the homes of one crore people.

In the second phase, such low-income families will be given benefits who were left out in the first phase.


When the Prime Minister implemented this scheme, he had said that even after 70 years of independence, women are cooking on wooden stoves.

This scheme was launched only to get them clean fuel. The scheme will increase the use of LPG and will help in reducing health related disorders, air pollution and deforestation.
