Petition filed against Mayawati over Ansari's inclusion in BSP

Allahabad: A criminal contempt petition has been filed against the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Supremo Mayawati in the Allahabad High Court for defending mafia-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari over criminal allegations.

The petition has been filed at the Attorney General's Office and will be heard on February 13.

Petitioner Ashok Singh has alleged Ansari of killing his brother Ajay Prakash Singh in the year 2009.

The petition further said that Ansari was also involved in the killing of two eye witnesses in the case, Ram Singh Maurya and gunner Satish Singh in 2010.

The petition said that chargesheet has been filed against Ansari in both the cases.

What is the case?

- It may be mentioned that Mukhtar Ansari had officially joined Mayawati's Bahuja Samaj Party on January 25.

- At the time of joining, Mayawati had said that no charges have been proved against Ansari and he was framed on false allegations.

- Petitioner said that Mayawati's statement is contempt of court.
