Lucknow: Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav was on Monday denied permission to meet former Uttar Pradesh minister and gangrape accused Gayatri Prasad Prajapati in jail.

Mulayam had sought time from jail administration to meet his close aide and senior SP leader.

Defining the reason behind the denial, the jail administration said that they had to turn down SP patriarch's request because of Eid holiday.

It may be mentioned that Gayatri has been arrested in involvement with a gangrape case. The victim had alleged that the former UP minister gangraped her and sexually assaulted her daughter.

After the Supreme Court's intervention, an FIR had been registered against Gayatri Prasad Prajapati and other accused.
