Minor clash sparks communal tension in Gonda

Gonda: The communal tension gripped Gonda district following minor clash between two communities in which two government vehicle were set afire and a religious place was damaged in Ragadganj market under Tarabganj kotwali area about 22 kms from the district headquarter on Wednesday.

At least four persons were reported injured in the clash which took place following minor altercation between two communities last evening.

The additional force was deployed in the area while the senior district and police officials including Superintendent of Police Sudhir Kumar personally manning the troubled spot.

The trouble had sparked off last evening when a youth was beaten up by members of other community. It followed some violent overtones this morning which led to both the communities coming face to face.

Meanwhile, the situation was brought under control and had officially been described as ‘tense but under control’. The markets in the area remained closed after the incident even as the vigil was being maintained, the SP Sudhir Singh said.
