Meerut: Making an acerbic remark on prevailing law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Union Textiles Minister Smriti Irani on Friday said all the criminal elements will be put behind the bars when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government is installed in the state.

The crime graph in UP was north-bound with each passing day and the crime against women has assumed alarming prepositions, she said while asserting the criminal elements are getting protection from the ruling Samajwadi Party government.

"Now is the time for the people of Uttar Pradesh to change the political system for which BJP provides the best alternative," Smriti Irani said.

The Minister of Textiles was here to address all 403 constituencies of Uttar Pradesh via video conferencing in a programme called 'Uadaan'.

She answered 17 questions related to women safety, demonetisation, UP police recruitment, deteriorating law and order condition, mis-management in hospitals and corruption asked by the women at the programme organised at the Swami Vivekanand Subharti University here. The function was also joined by BJP MP Satya Prakash Agarwal, DM Shivkumar Rana and Metropolitan Chairman Karunesh Nandan Garg.

Assuring all of corruption-less UP if BJP comes to power, Smriti Irani said her party focuses even on the smallest of the issues to rectify them.
