Shahjahanpur: A minor girl was abducted and gang-raped by a group of six men in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

The girl was abducted by two men from her village while she was on way to attend her knitting classes and was taken to an unknown place in a nearby town.

She was raped by them for the whole night and then was thrown from a bridge connecting the village and the town in an unconscious state. The police officials taking no cognisance refused to file an FIR and abused the victim.

The incident:

  • The girl was abducted near her house by two known men .
  • She was thrown from Govindganj bridge near her village .
  • The girl after coming to senses somehow contacted her father and went with him to Nigohi police station, where she was n initially abused by the Station Officer which led to outrage among villagers.
  • An FIR was filed against the accused and the girl was sent for a medical test after the girl’s family protested outside the police station along with other villagers.

What officials said:

According to Amar Singh, station officer, Nigohi police station, a case has been registered against the accused under section 502 and 375 of IPC. The police also stated that two of the six accused, Iliaas and Sameer, were known to the girl.
