NCM seeks report from UP Government in Rampur demolitions

Rampur: Intervening into the matter of alleged illegal demolition of houses in minority locality Dungarpur in Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh, the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) has sought report from Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan in this regard within three week.

The commission’s action has come on the petition filed by Minority Cell Coordinator of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Faisal Lala.

Lala in his petition has alleged that demolition was carried out illegally in contravention to High Court’s stay. Adding, the police have also used force on women and children during the demolition drive.

The matter:

• The residents of Dungarpur area have alleged that more than 30 houses were demolished by the police on behest of Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Mohammad Azam Khan.
