Five of a family buried alive in a building collapse in Meerut

Meerut: Five persons of a family were buried alive when a double storied building collapsed due to torrential rain in Kharkhauda area of Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh, according to sources.

The incident happened in the wee hours on Sunday. Bodies were pulled out of the rubble through the help of neighbours and police.

The deceased included three children who were identified as Durjan (5), Mahesh (4) and Khushi (2). District officials have announced compensation to the family.

Official version was not available as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dinesh Chandra Dubey, when contacted, refused to answer the queries by saying that he is 'too senior officer' to respond and asked to contact his subordinate.
