Lucknow: Naresh Uttam has again been chosen as the state president of Samajwadi party on Saturday.

Uttam, who had led the party during the 2017 legislative assembly elections in the state, when the SP had to face defeat from the Bharatiya Janata Party, was announced the unopposed state president by party's senior leader Ramgopal Yadav during SP's 8th 'Rajya Sammelan'.

Taking a dig at Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, the re-elected state party chief Uttam said, "You need to take extra caution as the time is not in favour of 'Babas'."

It is worth mentioning that this was the first time when Samajwadi Party's patron Mulayam Singh yadav was not present during the Sammelan.

Netaji, however, did find mention in the words of his son and Uttar Pradesh former CM Akhilesh Yadav, who said that the party always has the blessings of Mulayam Singh Yadav and SP will again return to power under his guidance.

SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said, "The party today elected those 101 people who will be the workforce for upcoming 5 years. Along with the state president, three vice presidents, a general secretary, and other workers were also elected by the party authorities."
