UP Govt raises retirement age of university teachers to 70
Lucknow: In a major decision, the Uttar Pradesh Government on Thursday decided to raise retirement age of higher education teachers to 70 years.
A decision to this effect was taken by the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday, subjected to the ratification of the state cabinet, a government spokesperson told newztrack.com. More than 65,000 teachers are likely to be benefited from this decision. The decision was taken in view of shortage of teachers in higher education institutions.
- The retirement age till now for the teachers in higher education is 65 years.
- There are more than 30 universities and 3600 odd affiliated colleges in the state.
