Lucknow: The timely intervention of police and administration saved the capital of Uttar Pradesh from a communal trouble following heated altercation between members of two communities in the sensitive Aminabad area late Sunday night.

The situation was saved but not before both the communities pelted stones, indulged in arson and tried to vandalise few shops. There was a minor issue of locating a water kiosk which soon turned communal and brewed up into a clash.

Being Ramzan month, the buzzing Nazirabad market area saw many people on the streets indulging in violence. The District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Deepak Kumar reached the spot while force from other police stations was also requisitioned.

DM said the situation was brought under control in the night itself even as all the precautionary measures have been taken to avoid repeat of such incidents. '' The social media platforms are being closely monitored to counter rumour-mongering while some preventive arrests have been made,'' he added.
