Senior UP Police officer shoots himself in the office

Lucknow: In a rather sensational incident, Additional Superintendent of Police (Addl SP) Rajesh Sahni, currently posted in Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in his office here on Tuesday afternoon.

According to a police spokesman, the immediate reason behind the act could not be ascertained.

Recently, Sahni arrested ISI (A�Inter-Services Intelligence) agent from Mumbai.

• The 1992-batch state police service officer was considered to be an efficient and upright officer.
• He was promoted as Additional Superintendent of Police in 2013.
• He successfully executed several operations while being posted in the Anti-Terror Squad (ATS).
• He returned to Lucknow after the admission of his daughter in a Mumbai-based medical college.
• The cop was on 10-day leave from May 28.
• Notably, he came to his office despite being on off.
